Here is a Dizzy Grizzlies cookie commercial from 1995. These cookies were a spin-off of Teddy Grahams. The cookie consists of a graham cracker shaped as a gnarly Grizzly Bear who is shreddin' it up by rollerblading, biking, or skateboarding. The back side of the cookie has a layer of either chocolate or vanilla frosting mixed with rainbow sprinkles.
As an added bonus, on the back of each specially marked box has a 3-D puzzle made from magic sprinkles! We actually took a screen grab from the video to see if the 3-D magic eye puzzle would still work.
Guess what? It works!! And we discovered a secret word next to the bear (which wasn't mentioned in the commercial). Go give it a try and let us know what word you see!
Stare at this 3-D magic image. What do you see?

Here is a Nickelodeon Flash Screen commercial from 1994. This toy looks so awesome and it's perfect for sleepovers! You basically have to stand in front of the screen which can attach to any door. Then you or your friend must hold the "zapper" and let it flash. It will leave a shadow of whatever is in front of the screen. And it gets even cooler since at the end of the zapper is a glowing pen which you can use to alter the shadow however you like! Also, it's a nice touch how the light is green - just like Nickelodeon's famous slime!
Now that's rad!!
What isn't rad is that this toy was discontinued due to the fact that it was possibly causing kids to have seizures. These toys are worth a lot of money now so go check your attics for one!!

It becomes even cooler since it has a sunroof, the seats are adjustable, the baby seat for Baby Kelly is removable, and there's a trunk that has many outdoor grilling accessories (plus many more surprises!)

Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong was charged and arrested for 'Indecent Exposure' after a show at The Mecca in Milwaukee, WI on November 21, 1995 (other sites say it happened on 11/21/96 but they got the year wrong).
Here is a clip from "MTV News: The Week in Rock" in which Kurt Loder reports on the arrest. Billie Joe supposedly pulled his pants down and mooned the audience and the Milwaukee police arrested and charged him with Indecent Exposure after the show. He bailed out that night for $111 but forfeited that money when he didn't appear for a 9am appointment the next morning. Drummer Tre Cool is interviewed over the phone about the charge against Billie Joe and says that it only happened because the cops were upset that Green Day wouldn't hang out with them backstage.
Before the incident, MTV caught up with Green Day at the Cobo Arena in Detroit, MI on November 16, 1995. They were interviewed on topics such as if touring gets boring for them, how Billie Joe and Tre Cool are new fathers, playing bigger venues, Ticketmaster and Pearl Jam, the remainder of their Insomniac Tour and what they do on their days off.
So people out there. There were hundreds, if not thousands, of you at that 11/21/95 Green Day concert at The Mecca in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Please show yourselves and let us know if Billie Joe showed his ass or not. We're confused why this story has some sketchy details and wrong dates online...
COME FORWARD!! YOU BILLIE JOE BUTT CHEEK LOOKERS WHO ARE HIDING IN THE ABYSS OF 2011+++ YOU MAY HAVE WIVES AND KIDS NOW. BUT WE MUST KNOW. DID BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG SHOW HIS ASS CHEEKS ON THE NIGHT IN QUESTION?
Probably, since he did it pretty often back then.
rad.

Here is an old interview with Silverchair from "MTV News: The Week in Rock" from March 1996. This segment aired when their debut album Frogstomp was just under a year old and singer Daniel Johns, bassist Chris Joannou and drummer Ben Gillies were only 16 years old. At the time, Silverchair was opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Kurt Loder sets up the segment and wonders if they're jaded yet. Topics include their fathers tagging along, how Daniel plans on wearing the same white shirt without washing it for the whole tour, Daniel being knocked out after diving into the audience and being hit in the head with a beer bottle (bloody images shown), playing on the marquee of Radio City Music Hall for MTV's 1995 Video Music Awards, how Frogstomp went top 10, opening for the Red Hot Chili Peppers (and watching Flea pull his pants down), how they need to catch up on schoolwork when they get back to Australia, why the new video for "Israel's Son" needed to be re-cut (which they didn't agree with), and how they'll resume their tour with the Chili Peppers on March 6th in Chicago.
This video shows live clips from Madison Square Garden in NYC (02/09/96), Santa Monica Pier in CA (09/17/95), and Radio City Music Hall in NYC (09/07/95).
Cool.

Here is Pat Smear on MTV's "House of Style" in 1996. He was, of course, the guitarist for bands such as The Germs, Nirvana, and the Foo Fighters. "House of Style" was a show on MTV that focused on fashion, models, and the modeling industry.
In this video, models Shalom Harlow and Amber Valletta meet up with Pat Smear in New York City's East Village. They basically give Pat different clothes to wear and they take photos of him in several locations around the neighborhood. Sorry about the quality. The vhs tape we got it from has seen its last days. Luckily we saved it. Enjoy!

Here is an early interview with Dave Grohl on April 3, 1996 at the Much Music studio in Toronto, Canada. It was only days away from the two year anniversary of the day when Kurt Cobain committed suicide. The Foo Fighters were barely a year old and the other band members at the time were bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith (Sunny Day Real Estate) plus second guitarist Pat Smear (The Germs, Nirvana).
Bill Welychka is interviewing Dave on a snowy afternoon with fans all throughout the studio and outside. It was just hours before the Foo Fighters would play a show at the Concert Hall in Toronto for their 1996 Spring Tour.
Topics discussed include parallels between lyrics from the Foo Fighters Self-Titled album and Kurt Cobain's suicide, how it hurts to talk about Kurt's death (Dave gets annoyed at Bill for asking), how Smells Like Teen Spirit was the anthem of the 90's, about possibly doing a Canadian Foo Fighters tour, and to stop throwing Mentos at them during concerts. He also answered questions from fans and received a bootleg Nirvana CD from one.
We believe there was more to this interview which unfortunately we missed when it originally aired on Much Music.
Stay tuned as we have many more rare videos during the "grunge years" that we'll be posting soon!!!

There were many, many Dunkin' Donuts commercials in the 80's and 90's. During this time a star was born and his name was Michael Vale, otherwise known as "Fred the Baker". We all felt his pain when this sleepy-eyed mustachioed Dunkin' Donuts worker had to wake up early and say the famous catchphrase, "Time to make the donuts..."
He played this role for 15 years from 1982 to 1997 and I'm sure he loved every second of it. Johnny from The Outsiders was correct when he said that "nothing gold can stay", because the legend Michael Vale passed away on December 24, 2005 due to complications from diabetes at age 83.
In this commercial Fred the Baker is being rewarded for his 99 cent croissant breakfast sandwiches that he graciously baked for all of America. Here's to you Fred!

This episode is from 1992 and it's hosted by Jessica Duarte and Scott Tunnell. Part One starts off with Jessica and Scott on stage at the San Diego Zoo with a South African Cheetah. Next, they talk about different animal colorings and camouflages and why they have them. After that, they hang out with some Rhinos and get slimed by one!
Part Two begins with Jessica and Scott at Custer State Park in South Dakota where they see a herd of Buffalo, which are actually called American Bison. Next, they visit The Prairie Edge which is a store there that sells Native American art. Then they visit Steven Kutcher aka "The Bug Man" who has thousands of insects and bugs which he keeps as pets. They include tarantulas, cockroaches, scorpions, spiders, beetles, and many more.
Did Jessica call the Arachnophobia spiders radical? Yes she did! That's RADICAL!!!
Part Three has Jessica and Scott going to the Triple Seven Buffalo Ranch in South Dakota. There Scott meets up with some boys and he wears Coyote fur while crawling alongside a herd of Buffalo. Then Jessica and Scott jump on a couple of horses and round up some Buffalo! They herd them over to stalls where they get treated with their shots.
"Wild Side Show" was a TV show for kids on Nickelodeon that was hosted by two kids and featured various wild and zoo animals with an emphasis on education and wildlife conservation.
We used to love this show and luckily recorded a couple of episodes when they originally aired. There's barely any information about Nickelodeon's Wild Side Show anywhere online. As of writing this, there's no info on Wikipedia and barely any on IMDB. But after doing extensive research and gathering clues from around the web, here is what we found:
The show definitely premiered in 1992 but there are conflicting reports of when exactly. We personally think it was on Sunday, August 23, 1992 at 8:30pm EST and after that Sundays at 5:00pm EST (other sources have premiere dates listed as February 1, April 10, and August 22, 1992). We also believe the show lasted for two seasons (each with a different set of hosts) and that reruns were shown on Nickelodeon for at least until 1995.

This commercial shows truckloads of Maytag appliances being driven around and getting ready for Maytag's Truckload Sale. They got Washers, Dryers, Dishwashers, Ranges...
With this sale you can save $30!!
But it's sad because an old, lonely appliance repairman says "At least they got some place to go". Well, that old man has some history to him. He played a character created for Maytag and his real name was Jesse White (who already had a substantial acting career with roles in Broadway shows, feature films, and tv shows which included The Twilight Zone, The Dick Van Dyke Show; The Donna Reed Show; The Munsters; The Addams Family; and I Dream of Jeannie, among others).
His new role was to be a repairman and show that Maytag appliances were so reliable that he wasn't needed anymore. He was this character from 1967 - 1988. This campaign ended up being very successful for Maytag.
Interestingly though, this commercial that we have here for your viewing pleasure, might be his last EVER as the "Maytag repairman" since it's the same year he stopped being that character.
Several actors took his place thereafter with not as much success as Jesse White had. Eventually, the "Maytag repairman" character became a symbol for a professional whose services are rarely needed which some say, among other reasons, led to the decline of Maytag.

We haven't been able to find a whole lot of info on Centrum's DynaTrim but did uncover some facts. The commercial doesn't explain much except that you can lose weight from eating DynaTrim, which is actually an "Appetite Suppressant".
According to a Drug Store News article published on January 21, 1991 the makers of DyanTrim "threw $2.5 million in advertising behind its new product, DynaTrim, on Dec. 30 and 31 alone, said product manager Laurie Shanower, just so people would wake up Jan. 1 knowing about--and (the company hopes) reaching for -- DynaTrim. That was in addition to the $10 million spent since the TV, radio and print ad campaign broke Dec. 12. Altogether, $45 million in trade and consumer advertising will be spent in the first 13 months of DynaTrim's quest to topple Ultra Slim*Fast from its meal replacement throne, Shanower said."
That's a lot of money even for the early 90's! And a pretty catchy song too! Looks pretty tasty if you ask us, but we wonder if it works. Did anyone try this? Let us know!

This episode is from 1992 and consists of three parts which is hosted by Jessica Duarte and Scott Tunnell. Part One starts off with Jessica and Scott at the San Diego Zoo with a bird called a Scarlet Macaw. Then they talk about all different kinds of birds and how they're related to dinosaurs. After that they play a game called "Animal Relatives" and have us guess which animals are the most closely related to each other. (Spoiler Alert! It's kinda funny how all 3 questions are the answer C and the animals are the most different from the original animal! We answered correctly, so where is our busload of 1990's tourists wearing fanny-packs, fluorescent clothing, and radical sunglasses???)
Part Two begins with Jessica at The Theater of the Sea in Islamorada, Florida talking about bottlenose dolphins. It then shows how physically handicapped people can swim with the dolphins for therapy. The next segment is Scott and Jill talking about different types of wild cats, especially Tigers and how they could soon become extinct. (It's radical how they decided to include the puking cat in this segment!)
Part Three has Jessica and Scott at the San Diego Zoo and they're talking to zookeepers and trainers about how they started their careers. Next, Jessica goes swimming and dancing with the bottlenose dolphins! After that, she goes on a boat with a Marine Biologist to look for dolphins in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, she finds a mother dolphin trying to bring her lifeless baby dolphin back to life. The poor baby drowned. It was taken to SeaWorld for an autopsy.

Frank Lautenberg is considered one of the US Senate's most liberal members. He is also the oldest, at age 87. His age hasn't stopped him from his liberal stance because just a few days ago, in opposition to the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act," he told the GOP, “I won’t attempt to voice my views on your family and let my family alone. Don't go near my daughters." Ouch!
Now rewind 23 years and you will see an ad from the days when life was a bit easier, things were a bit slower. The year was 1988 and a battle was raging between Lautenberg and Republican Wall Street executive and former college football star Pete Dawkins for a New Jersey Senate seat. After trailing in the polls, the Lautenberg campaign ran an aggressive ad campaign focusing on pointing out the lack of Dawkins' Jersey roots and that he was only running for Senate in order to get him one step closer to his ultimate goal, which was to become President of the United States of America. He failed at both and Frank Lautenberg is still living and is still a Senator.

Since we're on the subject of drugs, here's a drug that was a "major breakthrough in AIDS therapy in the 1990s that significantly altered the course of the illness and helped destroy the notion that HIV/AIDS was a death sentence".
A few years before the release of this commercial, we have a memory as kids where we were in our local bowling alley and we were lobbing cheese puff balls up into the air and then catching them in our mouths. Most we caught but some landed on the floor, of course, but we would still pick them up and eat 'em. One 80s bowler dude didn't like that and scolded us! He said "You know.... you can get AIDS from that!". Back then we believed him but when we grew up we realized how untrue that statement really was. Everyone knows that you can only get AIDS from having sex with cheese puff balls. DUH!

Are they reformulating this drug in the US or is Big Brother stepping on the little guy once again? YOU be the judge! From Wikipedia:
"As of 2008, Drixoral has been removed from the US market by manufacturer Merck, (formerly Schering-Plough). The company's updated website attributes "changing [their] manufacturing location" for the supply disruption and currently states "it is unlikely product will be available in 2010". However, the drug still appears to be available in Canada and overseas, and other drugs manufactured at the same location have not become unavailable. This has led some Drixoral users to speculate that there may be other explanations for why Drixoral is no longer available in the US market. One possible reason is that the company is reformulating the product to no longer contain pseudoephedrine. Another possibility is that the 35-year-old drug is being removed in favor of newer, more profitable antihistamines such as Claritin (also manufactured by Schering-Plough). Some Drixoral users have resorted to ordering the drug from Canadian online pharmacies."
