Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football (1992 Sega Genesis)

Wow. My brothers, my friends, my cousins and anyone else I knew agreed that this was the best and most hi-tech football video game out there (this was back in 1992).

We were amazed at how the game actually talked to you and how it would narrate the game as if it was a live man. No, it wasn't Joe Montana speaking. It was a radical robot with a radical voice speaking and somehow it kept up with all of our plays.

We have some really amazing memories of playing this game and it's cool to think how this game paved the way to today's "Madden NFL 12". Which game is better?

This video below will show you what every single boy played in 1992-93 on their Sega Genesis.

Sweep Strong is still my favorite play.

Ghost boy from "Three Men and a Baby"?

Who remembers the 1987 comedy Three Men and a Baby? More importantly, who remembers the "ghost boy"? We remember rewinding, pausing, slo-motion-ing the famous scene a million times. It was definitly a human figure in the background. But was it a ghost?

No. It was a cardboard cutout of Jack (Ted Danson) wearing a tuxedo and top hat, that was left on the set. Below is the video. You can also see the "rifle" or "shotgun" that was used by the "ghost boy" to kill himself in a separate shot if you look close enough.

The story goes that the boy killed himself in the house that the scene was filmed in. This scene was filmed on a Toronto soundstage. You make your own conclusions... (the action happens at the 0:05 and 0:35 second marks)

And below is the cardboard cutout in question

And here is the "ghost boy"

Brown & blond-haired duos from the 80s & 90s

Growing up in the 1980's and 1990's, we always noticed a common theme in many of the movies and tv shows we watched back then: That the one main dude would have brown hair, and the other main dude would have blond hair. Well, we're gonna get right to it so if you don't believe us then you best take a look below!!!

Gilbert Lowell / Lewis Skolnick
Lewis & Gilbert
"Revenge of the Nerds" (1984)

Bill S. Preston, Esq. / Ted Logan

Bill & Ted
"Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989)

Wayne Campbell / Garth Algar
Wayne & Garth
"Wayne's World" (1992)

Butt-Head / Beavis
Beavis & Butt-Head
"Beavis and Butt-Head" (1993)

Lloyd Christmas / Harry Dunne
Lloyd & Harry
"Dumb & Dumber" (1994)

We know that there are a bunch more brown and blond-headed dudez from the 80's and 90's but can't think of any more right now. So everyone out there...be sure to let us know which ones we forgot so we can add them to the list!!

Rambo Kill Count Revealed!

This week, back in 1985, People Magazine had a story that attempted to count how many people Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) killed in the movie "Rambo: First Blood Part II", which came out a month earlier in May 1985. For those of you who don't know, there are a total of four Rambo movies:

"First Blood" (1982)
"Rambo: First Blood Part II" (1985)
"Rambo III" (1988)
"Rambo" (2008)

People Magazine say that 44 people were killed by Rambo (including 70 explosions that killed an undetermined number of people). That equals one person dying every 2.1 minutes in the second Rambo movie!!!

We are having problems finding this story on the web, but we did find a video that shows ALL of Rambo's kills from ALL four Rambo movies*.

*Note: For some reason, embedding is disabled so you will have to do with the video above that shows all of his kills from Rambo's 1-3. If you want to see Rambo 4 included in the death count, please watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sFDUcIttos

Jack Kevorkian aka "Dr. Death" dead at age 83

Assisted suicide advocate Jack Kevorkian died this morning at the age of 83 in Detroit. He had been hospitalized since last month with pneumonia and kidney problems.

Jack Kevorkian was famous for helping about 130 people die during the 1990s. He was eventually found guilty of second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10–25 years in prison. He was released early for good behavior and only served 8 years.

Below is the "60 Minutes" video that got him in trouble. It originally aired on November 22, 1998.

And here is another "60 Minutes" video that aired May 19, 1996. Kevorkian is interviewed by Andy Rooney and Andy does a pretty good job of getting in Jack's head. Interesting character!

Bobby Budnick: Bad 4 Good is Good 4 You

OK so we couldn't resist and had to post about another kid who was in an awesome TV show who was in an awesome band. Yesterday, we posted about how Pinksy from Nickelodeon's "Salute Your Shorts" would later join the band Rilo Kiley. Today, we're posting about his fellow "Shorts" castmate Bobby Budnick who also joined a radical band!

You know him. He is the red haired, mullet haired, bad assed "tough kid" from the early 90's Nickelodeon show "Salute Your Shorts". You always knew that he was into playing music on the show, but it's nice seeing the real kid, Danny Cooksey, rock it out in real life! He also happens to be little Sam McKinney (the cute little red haired kid) from "Diff'rent Strokes", which is one of our favorite shows from our youth!

Danny "Bobby Budnick" Cooksey was in a band called Bad 4 Good with three other dudez, including Brooks Wackerman who is the youngest brother of Frank Zappa drummer Chad Wackerman. Brooks now plays for Bad Religion. Who woulda known!!!

Bad 4 Good was a quartet of teens, the oldest being only 16 years old. They only released one record and it was called "Refugee", and it was released in 1992. Here is their music video for "Nineteen" (we do have to add that we LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!!!! It is almost as radical as you can get without your head exploding...)

Considering their age, we think they did pretty damn good but I guess not good enough for Danny Cooksey. He is now a successful voice over artist (he has been the voice in many video games and television shows) and is in a new band called "Arbuckle". Go Bobby, go!!!!!!

Salute Your Jennys!

Ahhhhhhhhhh Jenny Lewis! Ohh and then there's Blake Sennett who we also love! Jenny played Haley in the 1989 move "The Wizard" and Blake played Ronald "Ronnie" Foster Pinsky in the 1991-1992 Nickelodeon TV show "Salute Your Shorts".

We loved both of you as kids. Eventually, we grew up a little and then loved you both in the band Rilo Kiley. We've seen you play many times and always wanted to give Pinksy a wedgie and touch Haley's breast (see "Salute Your Shorts" and "The Wizard" to understand these harmless, pathetic jokes). Now, we are back to our little child selves and would like to blog about you! So here is Rilo Kiley's music video from 2001 called "Wires and Waves"....

And here is Blake and Jenny together!

Happy Birthday Frank Oz!

We loved the Muppets as kids. We still do. And Frank Oz (Richard Frank Oznowicz) voiced and puppeteered Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Animal, Grover, Cookie Monster, and Bert, among many others. He was born today on May 25, 1944 and is 67 years old! Happy Birthday Frank!!

After writing this post, it got us thinking. Besides Kermit the Frog, Frank Oz has stuck his hand up Miss Piggy's ass more than anyone else in the world!!!!!

90210 girls flashing their boobies! (It's a 2RadicalDudez Exclusive!!)

Here is a video clip from the TV show "Beverly Hills, 90210" that we re-edited for your viewing pleasure. It shows three girls flashing their boobs! Need we say more???

Ok, we need to say more. This episode originally aired on May 25, 1994 and it was part of a two-part season finale.

The boobs featured here belong to:

Brenda Walsh (aka Shannen Doherty)
Donna Martin (aka Tori Spelling)
Celeste Lundy (aka Jennifer Grant)

Red, white and blue! Who knew "Beverly Hills, 90210" would be so patriotic!

(PS: As you can see, red flashes with the most attitude. Red also has the most bounce.)

Black guy approves the white boy dance of Brian Austin Green (aka David Silver)

In this video, Brian Austin Green (otherwise known as David Silver from "Beverly Hills, 90210") sings creepily and dances like the early 90s white boy that he is. And the black guy seems to approve!

Props to the person who edited this video. David Silver would be proud of your editing skillz!

BREAKING NEWS: "Macho Man" Randy Savage Dead at age 58

Today we lost a legend of the 80s and 90s. "Macho Man" Randy Savage died after having a heart attack while he was driving his car, which then smashed into a tree. It is believed that the trauma from the car accident was the cause of death.

He was definitely one of our favorite wrestlers to watch back in the WWF days. We have many good memories watching him say “Oohhh Yeahhhhhhh!!!” and finishing people off with his famous elbow drop.

Randy, you will be missed!

Here's a flashback to 1992 with "Macho Man" Randy Savage selling WWF wrestling toy figures!

A&P and Pathmark in 1989. Come share the proud new feeling!

One day back on July 28, 1989 we accidentally recorded three supermarket commercials. Two being A&P and the other one was Pathmark.

These supermarkets were huge in NY, NJ, and PA (we locals call it the Tri-State Area). Some consider A&P the original Wal-Mart. Pathmark was big too. They both had their heydays but as you know, times change. Pathmark was eventually bought by A&P.
And, you guessed it, A&P eventually filed for bankruptcy.

Here are their commercials back when their golden years were long gone and they were on their last legs. You would never know it from these commercials!!!

Come share the proud new feeling...at A&P! So much is going on in this commercial. They're really promoting their "Get More, Spend Less" campaign - it's everywhere. Notice the 80's looking products such as Ritz Crackers, Planters Corn Chips and Cheese Curls, and Charmin Free toilet paper. Also, it goes by really fast, but at the very end check out the kids flying by the camera - one is pushing his shopping cart while the other kid is inside! That looks so much fun!! A&P had so much hope back then.

So much is going on in this commercial too. It's kind of like the first one but it has a much better song. This song just makes me so happy and I just want to join the proud new feeling...at A&P! (I've actually seen the same exact commercial on YouTube from 1989 but instead it was for SuperFresh which is a division of A&P. They just made some minor changes. Interesting.)

This is a Pathmark commercial that was aired alongside the A&P commercials. Who knew that just under 20 years later, A&P would buy-out Pathmark? It's a crazy world.

Actor James Karen was Pathmark's spokesperson back then. You may know him from TV classics such as "Eight is Enough" or "As The World Turns" and "All My Children". Maybe you even saw him in "Poltergeist" or "The Return of the Living Dead" or "Wall Street".

In this commercial he was promoting Pathmark's "21st Anniversary Sweepstakes" in which they were giving away 1989 Cadillac Sedan Devilles. You could also pick up coupons to save up to $16 at Six Flags Great Adventure. How could you not have shopped at Pathmark back then?!?

SIDE NOTE: As of this blog entry, all of the Pathmarks and A&P's that were near our house when were were kids are still around. I wonder for how long...

A message from David Allen Grier in 1992: "Can't we all just get along?!?"

"In Living Color" was a great show.  We have many radical memories of this show from being youth of the 90's, including this one where David Allen Grier and Jim Carrey play Rodney King and Reginald Denny (in case you don't know... one was a black guy beaten by white guys and the other was a white guy beaten by black guys!). We don't know about you, but we remember saying "Can't we all just get along?!?!!?" all the time as kids after this episode aired!!!!

It originally aired on September 27, 1992, which was five months after the LA Riots.  Enjoy!

Where's Kurt Cobain?

There are only 2 more days till the anniversary of when Kurt Cobain blew his brains out back in April 1994. It happened 17 years ago!!!!

Some people don't believe Kurt killed himself. Meet Tom Grant. He is a private investigator and former detective with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. According to Grant, he was hired by Courtney Love on April 3, 1994 to find Kurt after he left a drug rehab center in Marnina Del Rey, California.

Where did Kurt go??? What did he do??? Some pretty interesting stuff happened according to Tom Grant!

Here is an excerpt from his website:

"On April 3, 1994, I was hired by Courtney Love, (who was in Los Angeles at the time), to locate her husband after he left a drug rehab center in Marina Del Rey, California. Ms. Love stayed in Los Angeles while I flew to Seattle to search for Cobain with his best friend Dylan Carlson. In fact, Carlson and I had been in the Cobain residence the night before Kurt's body was discovered in the room above the garage."

"The police immediately concluded "suicide." I wasn't so sure. Neither was Rosemary Carroll, Courtney Love's own entertainment attorney. Ms. Carroll was also a close friend to both Courtney and Kurt."

"We both knew something was wrong here--terribly wrong."

Was it an inside job?? Just kidding. We think Kurt killed himself but you be the judge! Visit Tom Grant's site for more info: http://www.cobaincase.com/

MORGUE MONDAY: Ralph James (aka Mr. Turtle)

Right now, we know you're asking yourself, "Who is Ralph James"? We asked the same question. Ralph James was a voiceover artist who voiced Mr. Turtle from the classic Tootsie Pop commercials, which ran from 1978 to 1982. Ralph James died at the age of 67 on March 14, 1992. That was 19 years ago today! He had a small part but he will be remembered forever!

We have fond memories of this commercial. We always liked how Mr. Turtle was a grumpy old man and didn't want to deal with the weird naked kid's questions. "GO ASK MR. OWL, YOU YOUNG WHIPPER SNAPPER SON OF A BITCH YOU!!!!"

RIP Ralph James

NEWS FLASH: Ex-Alice in Chains bassist, Mike Starr, dies in Salt Lake City

We hate being the bearer of bad news but another 90's rocker has died. Mike Starr, the original bassist of Alice in Chains, was found dead yesterday, March 8, 2011, in his home in Salt Lake City. Starr was 44 years old.

Police were unable to determine a cause of death but it does not appear to have involved foul play. Mike Starr helped form Alice in Chains in 1987 and, according to Starr in VH1's "Celebrity Rehab", he was kicked out of the band in 1993 due to his heroin addiction. Starr was arrested and booked just barely a month ago on February 18, 2011 for possession of a controlled substance (he allegedly had six Xanax and six Opana tablets on him at the time).

The band left the following statement: “Members of Alice in Chains are mourning the loss of their friend and ask that the media respect their privacy – and the privacy of the Starr family – during this difficult time. Their thoughts & prayers are with the Starr family.”

We will bring you any updates as soon as we hear them.

RIP MIKE STARR
