Ghost boy from "Three Men and a Baby"?

Who remembers the 1987 comedy Three Men and a Baby? More importantly, who remembers the "ghost boy"? We remember rewinding, pausing, slo-motion-ing the famous scene a million times. It was definitly a human figure in the background. But was it a ghost?

No. It was a cardboard cutout of Jack (Ted Danson) wearing a tuxedo and top hat, that was left on the set. Below is the video. You can also see the "rifle" or "shotgun" that was used by the "ghost boy" to kill himself in a separate shot if you look close enough.

The story goes that the boy killed himself in the house that the scene was filmed in. This scene was filmed on a Toronto soundstage. You make your own conclusions... (the action happens at the 0:05 and 0:35 second marks)

And below is the cardboard cutout in question

And here is the "ghost boy"

Brown & blond-haired duos from the 80s & 90s

Growing up in the 1980's and 1990's, we always noticed a common theme in many of the movies and tv shows we watched back then: That the one main dude would have brown hair, and the other main dude would have blond hair. Well, we're gonna get right to it so if you don't believe us then you best take a look below!!!

Gilbert Lowell / Lewis Skolnick
Lewis & Gilbert
"Revenge of the Nerds" (1984)

Bill S. Preston, Esq. / Ted Logan

Bill & Ted
"Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" (1989)

Wayne Campbell / Garth Algar
Wayne & Garth
"Wayne's World" (1992)

Butt-Head / Beavis
Beavis & Butt-Head
"Beavis and Butt-Head" (1993)

Lloyd Christmas / Harry Dunne
Lloyd & Harry
"Dumb & Dumber" (1994)

We know that there are a bunch more brown and blond-headed dudez from the 80's and 90's but can't think of any more right now. So everyone out there...be sure to let us know which ones we forgot so we can add them to the list!!

Rambo Kill Count Revealed!

This week, back in 1985, People Magazine had a story that attempted to count how many people Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) killed in the movie "Rambo: First Blood Part II", which came out a month earlier in May 1985. For those of you who don't know, there are a total of four Rambo movies:

"First Blood" (1982)
"Rambo: First Blood Part II" (1985)
"Rambo III" (1988)
"Rambo" (2008)

People Magazine say that 44 people were killed by Rambo (including 70 explosions that killed an undetermined number of people). That equals one person dying every 2.1 minutes in the second Rambo movie!!!

We are having problems finding this story on the web, but we did find a video that shows ALL of Rambo's kills from ALL four Rambo movies*.

*Note: For some reason, embedding is disabled so you will have to do with the video above that shows all of his kills from Rambo's 1-3. If you want to see Rambo 4 included in the death count, please watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_sFDUcIttos

Salute Your Jennys!

Ahhhhhhhhhh Jenny Lewis! Ohh and then there's Blake Sennett who we also love! Jenny played Haley in the 1989 move "The Wizard" and Blake played Ronald "Ronnie" Foster Pinsky in the 1991-1992 Nickelodeon TV show "Salute Your Shorts".

We loved both of you as kids. Eventually, we grew up a little and then loved you both in the band Rilo Kiley. We've seen you play many times and always wanted to give Pinksy a wedgie and touch Haley's breast (see "Salute Your Shorts" and "The Wizard" to understand these harmless, pathetic jokes). Now, we are back to our little child selves and would like to blog about you! So here is Rilo Kiley's music video from 2001 called "Wires and Waves"....

And here is Blake and Jenny together!

MORGUE MONDAY: Stanley Kubrick

This is the beginning of a column called "Morgue Monday". On random Monday we will feature someone who died in the 80's or 90's.  We are sad to see them go but it is our duty to poke them with a long stick to see just how radical and dead they really are. From Kurt Cobain to Jon-Erik Hexum to Ray Combs to Jeremy from the song that Pearl Jam wrote called "Jeremy"! We will find them!!!!

It just so happens that filmmaker Stanley Kubrick died today, March 7, 1999 at the age of 70. That was 12 years ago today!! Where were you???

From Wikipedia:

"Stanley Kubrick (July 26, 1928 – March 7, 1999) was an American film director, writer, producer, and photographer who lived in England during most of the last four decades of his career. Kubrick was noted for the scrupulous care with which he chose his subjects, his slow method of working, the variety of genres he worked in, his technical perfectionism, and his reclusiveness about his films and personal life. He maintained almost complete artistic control, making movies according to his own whims and time constraints, but with the rare advantage of big-studio financial support for all his endeavors."

"Kubrick's films are characterized by a formal visual style and meticulous attention to detail—his later films often have elements of surrealism and expressionism that eschews structured linear narrative. His films are repeatedly described as slow and methodical, and are often perceived as a reflection of his obsessive and perfectionist nature. A recurring theme in his films is man's inhumanity to man. While often viewed as expressing an ironic pessimism, a few critics feel his films contain a cautious optimism when viewed more carefully."

His films include Paths of Glory, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut, among others.

RIP STANLEY KUBRICK

All-star cast in a movie that we never saw

We never saw this movie but have one question. Why did they use this song for the trailer? This song can only be used for one movie and one movie only. It's one of the greatest movies of all time and I'm sure you all agree. The movie is:

"The Goonies"

Maybe "The Bonfire of the Vanities" is a good movie too though. Let us know!
